PiWars 2016/17

OK, so we've had our application accepted to be able to compete in the PiWars competition at Cambridge University in April 2017. Here we go again!

We're starting small - discovering what robots can and can't do?

PiWars done for another year...

We went to Cambridge, took the Dreally Orsome Growbot, competed in lots of challenges, had a good day, came back with a few Pi Zero's and met with Eben Upton!

So we didn't win any categories outright, but considering the fantastic robots we were up against that had been built by people with a lot more expertise, time and money, we did OK and the robot survived!

Some pictures from the day:

Ready for action
Before it got busy...

Tackling the obstacle course

And it makes noises....

'sort of' dog noises...

Before and after....

Thought you might like to see a 'before and after' shot... just to show how you can completely destroy a toy!

Making the robot 'slightly' more aesthetically pleasing!

Although I think the robot making crew have been taking lessons from Sid Phillips of 'Toy Story' fame....

lots of wires...

fixing on the additional, crucial element...

and done...

but then ---- disaster ---- literally 3 minutes later.....decapitated!
